How do you think ASEAN can help Thailand address a challenge (such as climate change, creating new jobs, or health issues) in the 21st century? (No more than 300 words.)

Thailand is a small country compared to the major countries. However, with ASEAN, we have a bigger bargaining power. Hence, major countries tend to listen carefully; talking with Thailand represented only 70 million but talking with ASEAN represented over 622 million people. 

The nations need friends to support their stands. A small country alone in the United Nations has a difficulty to protect its interest. Nonetheless, if small countries are able to cooperate together, there will be more chances that raised issues can gain the momentum. In other words, regional cooperation such as ASEAN is a step forward to pursuit its interest in international affairs.

We are living in a borderless society. World, regional and national issues seem to be involved and mixed into one. The world is facing problems which cannot be done or tackle by one country. Environment, population, poverty, health, etc. are all gathered waiting to be solved by all nations. Thailand can work with ASEAN to have challenged issues addressed and highlighted in the ways we want to be. World resource allocation can be moved from one place to the other. The strong and charming ASEAN will be able to pull the world resources into its region. For example, technology transfer and investment needed to be highlighted. A high-tech ASEAN will be a show case to all other regional cooperation. High tech industries may keep the pollution intact which at the end  toward  the green environment.

It can be concluded here that ASEAN can help Thailand address a challenge in the 21st century. Firstly, with ASEAN we will have more bargaining power in order to protect the nation's interest. Secondly, we will be able to attract foreign resources into the region. Lastly, ASEAN can move forward to high tech region with zero pollution.

- During this exchange, participants will act as ambassadors for their countries. What qualities do you have that would help you fulfill this role? (No more than 250 words.)

There are couple of qualities I have that would help me fulfill this role. Eagerness to learn is my first quality. I have many questions in my mind. I will not  let it go until I know the root of the problem. If I find out the cause, there will be the way to solve the issue. My second quality is  being focus and doing things once at a time. In order to fulfill the jobs effectively, it is imperative to stay concentrate at the subject in mind. Although many issues may come up at the same time, prioritizing them is the key. Integrity is the third one that I regard it as the most important to all qualities. One cannot lie forever. In the long run the truth will prevail. I believe that doing things in systematic ways and keep it transparency will lead to the effective outcome and there will be no worry in the long run. My last quality is getting along well with others. I believe in team work which all those involve need to be appreciated. My easy-going personality helps me getting along well with others. I am willing to cooperate  and help my team to get the job done.

- In what ways are you an effective leader? What leadership skills would you like to improve? (No more than 250 words.)

I am an effective leader. Following lines will answer the question why I am an effective leader. I am a good listener. I don't know everything: therefore, I listen and listen, being able to gather information as much as possible. I listen to everybody dealing with the issue. My judgment bases on information and statistics, not on mu tempers. Next, I believe in fair play. Things are done within same standard, same rules. There is no favoritism under my leadership. Then, I am eager to learn. Every day is my lessons. I am willing to learn. I am ready to accept the mistakes and turn them into lessons. Moreover, I love to communicate with people. Good communication is a key to success. I will not get tired to explain things until the other side get the point. A better understanding is from a clear communication. Furthermore, I practice transparency. I can gain people trust with my transparency activity. There is no hiding, no secret discussion. What I know, other people know too. There is no suspicious within my team under my leadership. In addition, I have a sense of humor. Everybody has his own problems: health, money, relationship, business, etc. It is stressful enough in daily life. I would like to encourage people to have a smile on their faces and I will be happy to see ones with smiles. I may conclude here that these bring me a good leader: wonderful listener, fair play, learning eagerness, skill communication, transparency, and sense of humor. Lastly, I want to improve my skill of being an influencer. I need more time and experience to practice myself being an influencer. I will be blessed if I can be a role model to people. But at least I will be happy if people listen to me and do what I want them to do.

- How will your participation in this program benefit your community? (No more than 250 words)

 At the present I am surrounded with mainly school community. Certainly, my participation in this program will benefit my community. 

In my school community, I will be pleased by the teachers, the students and the parents. I will be asked to share my experiences in the U.S. to many school functions. They will be so eager to know what I do in this program. The teachers will have courage to teach their students, convincing the student to join the program like me. The school might put me in the school news as I represent the school, representing Thailand to join this program. The school will be proud that their students can compete and join such a prestigious international program.

For the students, I will be their model. I will encourage them senior and junior to join this program. They will look up at me and ask me many questions. I will try my best to explain to them things I have learned. The school will have a good record that one of their students is able to participate in the program arranged by the US Embassy in Thailand. Among the students at school, my participation will inspire them, keeping them alert with the international issues and having them outward looking and realizing the important of the world events which will affect our country more or less.

For the parents, I will be pleased to be a good example so the parents will hearten their kids to join in this program.
